Welcome to the Jersey Shore
The locals in New Jersey refer to this 127-mile stretch of sandy beaches as the Jersey Shore (not to be confused with the MTV-hit reality TV show). While most of the beaches have commercial boardwalks, residential areas, and amusement parks, this Jersey Shore trail guide will transport you (through jughandles) to some less trafficked areas to enjoy on a weekend trip or summer getaway.
Places to Eat
Playa Bowls: Playa Bowls is summer in a bowl. With over 100 surf-inspired shops nationwide, come check out the original Playa Bowls at Belmar Beach. Playa Bowls offers fresh, flavorful, and customizable açaí, pitaya, and coconut bowls. This is the perfect spot to satisfy your sweet tooth or transport yourself to your desired tropical getaway in every bite.
Porta Pizza: Guided by the Italian proverb, “may the door always be open,” Porta (meaning door) specializes in authentic Italian cuisine and is best known for their wood-fired neapolitan pizzas and warm, inviting Italian atmosphere. If you still have room for dessert, be sure to order the nutella pizza!
Surf Taco: Located along the Jersey Shore, these Mexican-Californian inspired surf shacks are serving some of New Jersey’s best coastal cuisine. Grab a taco or two for a mid-day snack before you go back to catch some waves.
Places to ROVM
Manasquan Jetty: Ever wanted to walk on water? The Manasquan Jetty is an enclosed rocky walkway that projects out from the Manasquan Beach into the Atlantic Ocean. Roam across the Manasquan Jetty for a more intimate view of surfers and (if you’re brave enough to look down) an incredible array of beautiful graffiti.
Asbury Boardwalk: Stroll along the Asbury Boardwalk while admiring oceanfront views and vivid, larger than life murals painted by local artists. The Asbury Park Boardwalk is a favorite place for family fun. Be sure to check out the chic boutiques, live music, and tasty eateries.
Belmar Beach: Come to the charming town of Belmar to experience one of the most clean beaches in New Jersey with a two-mile stretch of boardwalk. Belmar Beach is the perfect location to soak up the sun, ride the waves, or watch the sunrise.
Places to See
The Stone Pony: Located in the hip, quirky town of Asbury Park and set against the backdrop of the Jersey Shore, the Stone Pony is one of New Jersey’s best known outdoor music venues for young and old music fans alike. The Stone Pony acts as a stepping stone for up and coming artists like Bruce Springsteen and is a beacon for classic rock music fans.
